SOUTHERN AFRICAN CIVIL SOCIETY WORKSHOP: PEACE AND SECURITY IN THE SADC REGION 14 - 15 June 2004

On 14 - 15 June 2004, the SADC Programme is hosting a Southern African civil society workshop to discuss peace and security issues in 8 countries in the region. The workshop will be held at the ISS Conference room starting at 09:00.

The countries and organisations represented are:

• Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation, Tanzania - Dr Jonathan Lwehabura

• Center for International Studies (ISRI), Mozambique - Naftal Donaldo

• Center for Strategic Studies, Angola - Gen Njele and Manuel Correia de Barros

• Parliamentary APST, Zimbabwe - Mr Mataure

• LIPAM, Lesotho - John Dzimba

• University of Zambia, Department of Development Studies - Ms Wilma Nchito

• The African Institute of South Africa - Norman Mlambo

• Mauritius - Krishma Jhugroo

The workshop aims to discuss the general peace and security issues in specific countries, followed by defining the priority security issues. The prime issue will be carried forth for further research as part of the SADC-CSO project.
